이번 주는 다시 창세기로 돌아가서 하나님이 소돔과 고모라 성을 불로 심판하시는 장면을 읽게 됩니다.

이 본문에는 롯의 가족들이 경험하게 되는 구원과 동시에 그들이 겪게 되는 우여곡절의 어려움들과 재난과 같은 상황을 함께 보게 됩니다.

창 19:24-38 　24) 야훼께서 손수 하늘에서 유황불을 소돔과 고모라에 퍼부으시어 　25) 거기에 있는 도시들과 사람과 땅에 돋아난 푸성귀까지 모조리 태워버리셨다. 　26) 그런데 롯의 아내는 뒤를 돌아다보다가 그만 소금기둥이 되어버렸다. 　27) 아브라함이 아침 일찍이 일어나 전에 야훼와 함께 섰던 자리에 가서 　28) 소돔과 고모라와 그 분지 일대를 굽어보니 그 땅에서는 연기만 치솟고 있었다. 마치 아궁이에서 뿜어 나오는 연기처럼 피어 오르고 있었다. 　29) 그 분지에 있는 도시들을 멸망시키지 않을 수 없게 되었을 때, 하느님께서는 아브라함을 기억하셨다. 그래서 롯이 살고 있던 그 도시를 뒤엎으시면서도 롯을 파멸에서 건져주셨던 것이다. 　30) 롯은 소알에서 그 고장 사람들과 함께 사는 것이 두려워 두 딸을 데리고 소알에서 나와 산에 들어가 살게 되었다. 그는 두 딸과 함께 굴 속에서 살았다. 　31) 하루는 언니가 아우에게 말하였다. 창 19:24-38 　24) Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah - from the Lord out of the heavens. 　25) Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities - and also the vegetation in the land. 　26) But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. 　27) Early the next morning Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the Lord. 　28) He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, toward all the land of the plain, and he saw dense smoke rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace. 　29) So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he remembered Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived. 　30) Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. 　34) The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” 　35) So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him.
