"어른께서는 연세가 어떻게 되시오?" 　9) 야곱이 바로에게 대답하였다. "이 세상을 떠돌아다닌 햇수가 백 년 하고도 삼십 년입니다. 저의 조상들이 세상을 떠돌던 햇수에 비하면, 제가 누린 햇수는 얼마 되지 않지만, 험악한 세월을 보냈습니다." 　10) 야곱이 다시 바로에게 축복하고, 그 앞에서 물러났다. 　11) 요셉은 자기 아버지와 형제들을 이집트 땅에서 살게 하고, 바로가 지시한 대로, 그 땅에서 가장 좋은 곳인 라암세스 지역을 그들의 소유지로 주었다. 　12) 요셉은, 자기 아버지와 형제들과 아버지의 온 집안에, 식구 수에 따라서 먹거리를 대어 주었다. 　13) 기근이 더욱 심해지더니, 온 세상에 먹거리가 떨어지고, 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에서는 이 기근 때문에 사람들이 야위어 갔다. 　14) 사람들이 요셉에게 와서, 곡식을 사느라고 돈을 치르니, 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅의 모든 돈이 요셉에게로 몰렸고, 요셉은 그 돈을 바로의 궁으로 가지고 갔다. 　15) 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에서 돈마저 떨어지자, 이집트 사람들이 모두 요셉에게 와서 말하였다. "우리에게 먹거리를 주십시오. 돈이 떨어졌다고 하여, 어른께서 보시는 앞에서 죽을 수야 없지 않습니까?" 　16) 요셉이 말하였다. "그러면, 당신들이 기르는 집짐승이라도 가지고 오시오. 돈이 떨어졌다니, 집짐승을 받고서 먹거리를 팔겠소." 　17) 그래서 백성들은 자기들이 기르는 집짐승을 요셉에게로 끌고 왔다. 요셉은 그들이 끌고 온 말과 양 떼와 소 떼와 나귀를 받고서 먹거리를 내주었다. 이렇게 하면서 요셉은, 한 해 동안 내내, 집짐승을 다 받고서 먹거리를 내주었다. 　18) 그 해가 다 가고, 이듬해가 되자, 백성들이 요셉에게로 와서 말하였다. "돈은 이미 다 떨어지고, 집짐승마저 다 어른의 것이 되었으므로, 이제 어른께 드릴 수 있는 것으로 남은 것이라고는, 우리의 몸뚱아리와 밭뙈기뿐입니다. 어른께 무엇을 더 숨기겠습니까? 　19) 어른께서 보시는 앞에서, 우리가 밭과 함께 망할 수야 없지 않습니까? 그러니, 우리의 몸과 우리의 밭을 받고서 먹거리를 파십시오. 우리가 밭까지 바쳐서, 바로의 종이 되겠습니다. 우리에게 씨앗을 주십시오. 그러면, 우리가 죽지 않고 살아날 것이며, 밭도 황폐하게 되지 않을 것입니다." 　20) 요셉은 이집트에 있는 밭을 모두 사서, 바로의 것이 되게 하였다. 이집트 사람들은, 기근이 너무 심하므로, 견딜 수 없어서, 하나같이 그들이 가지고 있는 밭을 요셉에게 팔았다. 그래서 그 땅은 바로의 것이 되었다. 　21) 요셉은 이집트 이 끝에서 저 끝까지를 여러 성읍으로 나누고, ①이집트 전 지역에 사는 백성을 옮겨서 살게 하였다. / ①사마리아 오경과 칠십인역과 불가타에는 '요셉이 백성을 강제노동에 징용하였다' 　22) 그러나 요셉은, 제사장들이 가꾸는 밭은 사들이지 않았다. 제사장들은 바로에게서 정기적으로 녹을 받고 있고, 바로가 그들에게 주는 녹 가운데는 먹거리가 넉넉하였으므로, 그들은 땅을 팔 필요가 없었다. 　23) 요셉이 백성에게 말하였다. "이제, 내가 당신들의 몸과 당신들의 밭을 사서, 바로께 바쳤소. 여기에 씨앗이 있소. 당신들은 이것을 밭에 뿌리시오. 　24) 곡식을 거둘 때에, 거둔 것에서 오분의 일을 바로께 바치고, 나머지 오분의 사는 당신들이 가지시오. 거기에서 밭에 뿌릴 씨앗을 따로 떼어 놓으면, 그 남는 것이 당신들과 당신들의 집안과 당신들 자식들의 먹거리가 될 것이오." 　25) 백성들이 말하였다. "어른께서 우리의 목숨을 건져 주셨습니다. 어른께서 우리를 어여삐 보시면, 우리는 기꺼이 바로의 종이 되겠습니다." 　26) 요셉이 이렇게 이집트의 토지법 곧 밭에서 거둔 것의 오분의 일을 바로에게 바치는 법을 만들었으며, 지금까지도 그 법은 유효하다. 다만, 제사장의 땅만은 바로의 것이 되지 않았다. 　27) 이스라엘 자손은 이집트의 고센 땅에 자리를 잡았다. 거기에서 그들은 재산을 얻고, 생육하며 번성하였다. 　28) 야곱이 이집트 땅에서 열일곱 해를 살았으니, 그의 나이가 백마흔일곱 살이었다. 　29) 이스라엘은 죽을 날을 앞두고, 그의 아들 요셉을 불러 놓고 일렀다. "경의 아버지와 형제들이 경을 찾아온 것이 아니오? 　6) 이집트 땅은 경이 마음대로 할 수 있으니 경의 아버지와 형제들을 가장 좋은 땅에 머물게 하시오. 고센 땅에 살게 하면 어떻겠소? 그리고 그들 가운데 유능한 사람이 있거든 경이 잘 알아서 내 가축을 돌보는 책임자로 세우시오." 　7) 요셉은 아버지 야곱을 파라오 앞에 인도하여 만나게 하였다. 야곱이 파라오에게 만수무강을 빌자 　8) 파라오가 야곱에게 물었다. "얼마나 수를 누리셨소?" 　9) "이 세상을 떠돌기 벌써 백삼십 년이 됩니다. 얼마 되지는 않으나, 살아온 나날이 궂은 일뿐이었습니다. 소인의 조상들이 떠돌아다니시며 누리신 수에 미치려면 아직 멀었습니다." 　10) 이렇게 야곱은 파라오에게 대답하고는 다시 만수무강을 빌고 그 앞에서 물러났다. 　11) 요셉은 아버지와 형제들에게 살 자리를 잡아주고, 파라오의 분부대로 이집트 땅에서 가장 좋은 곳인 라므세스 지방을 그들의 소유지로 떼어주었다. 　12) 그리고 아버지와 형제와 온 가문에 속한 식구의 수대로 양식을 대어주었다. 　13) 기근은 점점 심해져서 온 세상에 양식이 떨어지지 않은 곳이 없게 되었다. 이집트 땅뿐 아니라 가나안 땅에 사는 모든 사람들도 이 기근으로 더 버틸 수 없게 되었다. 　14) 그리하여 모두들 요셉에게서 양식을 사 가다 보니 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에 있는 돈이란 돈은 모두 요셉의 손에 들어오게 되었다. 요셉은 그 돈을 파라오의 황실에 넘겼다. 　15) 이렇게 이집트 땅과 가나안 땅에서 돈이 떨어지게 되자 온 이집트 사람들이 요셉에게로 와서 청하는 것이었다. "양식을 대어주셔야 하겠습니다. 돈이 떨어졌다고 해서 어른께서 계시는데 우리가 죽을 수야 있겠습니까?" 　16) "돈이 떨어졌거든 가축이라도 가져오너라. 그러면 그 가축을 받고 양식을 내어주겠다." 하고 요셉은 대답하였다. 　17) 그리하여 그들은 가축을 요셉에게로 가져왔다. 요셉은 말과 소와 양과 나귀를 받고 양식을 내어주었다. 이렇게 그 해에는 그들이 가져오는 온갖 가축을 받고 양식을 대어주었다. 　18) 그 해가 다 지나 이듬해가 되자 그들은 요셉에게 와서 다시 청하였다. 창 47:1-31 　1) Joseph went and told Pharaoh, “My father and brothers, with their flocks and herds and everything they own, have come from the land of Canaan and are now in Goshen.” 　2) He chose five of his brothers and presented them before Pharaoh. 　3) Pharaoh asked the brothers, “What is your occupation?” “Your servants are shepherds, ” they replied to Pharaoh, “just as our fathers were.” 　4) They also said to him, “We have come to live here for a while, because the famine is severe in Canaan and your servants’ flocks have no pasture. So now, please let your servants settle in Goshen.” 　5) Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Your father and your brothers have come to you, 　6) and the land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and your brothers in the best part of the land. Let them live in Goshen.
