이번 주는 지난주에 들었던 에서의 족보 이야기에 이어서 야곱의 족보라고 기록된 내용을 읽게 됩니다.

이 본문에는 사실상 우리가 아는 형태의 족보라기보다는 야곱의 아들들에 관한 이야기가 기록되어 있는데, 이렇게 족보라는 특정한 단위를 통해서 하나님이 역사하시는 섭리와 손길들을 보여주는 교훈들을 잘 들을 수 있습니다.

Can you tell me where they are grazing their flocks?” 　17) “They have moved on from here,” the man answered. “I heard them say, ‘Let’s go to Dothan. ’” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them near Dothan. 　18) But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him. 　19) “Here comes that dreamer! ” they said to each other. 　20) “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him.
