이번 주는 우리 주님께서 십자가에 달리시기 전에 자기 수제자인 베드로의 부인을 예고하신 본문을 읽게 됩니다.

지난주부터 시작된 부활절의 기간에 우리는 이 본문을 통해서 자기 제자의 부인과 실패와 상처를 미리 아시면서도 그의 다음 길과 회복을 위한 계획을 가지고 계셨음을 볼 수 있습니다.

다음의 질문들을 통하여 본문을 미리 살펴보시지요.

- 31절의 ‘나를 버리리라’와 33절에도 두 번 나오는 ‘버리다’라는 표현이 개역개정이나 새번역의 난외주에 의하면 본디 어떤 뜻이라 합니까?

- 32절에서 예수님은 자신이 부활한 후에 어디로 가겠다 하셨습니까? 그것도 누구보다 ‘먼저’ 가겠다 하셨습니까?

- 예수님 앞에서 주님을 버리지 않겠다고 다짐한 제자들은 모두 몇 명이었습니까?

- 41절을 보면, ‘깨어 기도해야’ 할 이유는 무엇입니까? 그 이유가 새번역의 난외주나 공동번역에 의하면 무엇입니까?

"나는 네가 무슨 말을 하는지 모르겠다." 　71) 그리고서 베드로가 대문 있는 데로 나갔을 때에, 다른 하녀가 그를 보고, 거기에 있는 사람들에게 말하였다. "이 사람은 ②나사렛 예수와 함께 다니던 사람입니다." / ②그, '나사렛 사람' 　72) 그러자 베드로는 맹세하고 다시 부인하였다. "나는 그 사람을 알지 못하오." 　73) 조금 뒤에 거기에 서 있는 사람들이 베드로에게 다가와서 베드로에게 말하였다. "당신은 틀림없이 그들과 한패요. 당신의 말씨를 보니, 당신이 누군지 분명히 드러나오." 　74) 그 때에 베드로는 저주하며 맹세하여 말하였다. "나는 그 사람을 알지 못하오." 그러자 곧 닭이 울었다. 　75) 베드로는 "닭이 울기 전에, 네가 나를 세 번 부인할 것이다" 하신 예수의 말씀이 생각나서, 바깥으로 나가서 몹시 울었다.

"아버지, 아버지께서는 하시고자만 하시면 무엇이든 다 하실 수 있으시니 이 잔을 저에게서 거두어주소서. 그러나 제 뜻대로 마시고 아버지의 뜻대로 하소서." 　40) 기도를 마치시고 세 제자에게 돌아와 보시니 제자들은 자고 있었다. 그래서 베드로에게 "너희는 나와 함께 단 한 시간도 깨어 있을 수 없단 말이냐? 　41) 유혹에 빠지지 않도록 깨어 기도하여라. 마음은 간절하나 몸이 말을 듣지 않는구나!" 하시며 한탄하셨다. 

       　69) 그 동안 베드로는 바깥 뜰에 앉아 있었는데 여종 하나가 그에게 다가와 "당신도 저 갈릴래아 사람 예수와 함께 다니던 사람이군요." 하고 말하였다. 　70) 베드로는 여러 사람 앞에서 "무슨 소린지 나는 모르겠소." 하고 부인하였다. 　71) 그리고 베드로가 대문께로 나가자 다른 여종이 그를 보고는 거기 있는 사람들에게 "이 사람은 나자렛의 예수와 함께 다니던 사람이오." 하고 말하였다. 　72) 베드로는 맹세까지 하면서 "나는 그 사람을 알지 못하오." 하고 다시 부인하였다. 　73) 조금 뒤에 거기 섰던 사람들이 베드로에게 다가오며 "틀림없이 당신도 그들과 한 패요. 당신의 말씨만 들어도 알 수 있소." 하고 말하였다. 　74) 그러자 베드로는 거짓말이라면 천벌이라도 받겠다고 맹세하면서 "나는 그 사람을 알지 못하오." 하고 잡아떼었다. 바로 그 때에 닭이 울었다. 　75) 베드로는 "닭이 울기 전에 세 번이나 나를 모른다고 할 것이다." 하신 예수의 말씀이 떠올라 밖으로 나가 몹시 울었다.

       　69) Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. “You also were with Jesus of Galilee,” she said. 　70) But he denied it before them all. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said. 　71) Then he went out to the gateway, where another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 　72) He denied it again, with an oath: “I don’t know the man!” 　73) After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, “Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.” 　74) Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed. 　75) Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

And immediately the rooster crowed. 　75) And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly.

At that moment the cock crowed. 　75) Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said： "Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly.
