이번 주는 주님의 오심을 기리는 성탄을 앞두고 그분의 오심을 우리가 어떻게 맞이해야 하는지에 관한 말씀을 듣게 됩니다.

이 본문은 종말에 있게 될, ‘어린 양의 혼인 잔치’에 관한 말씀인데, 여기서 우리는 어린 양이신 예수 그리스도의 재림과 그에 따른 심판 앞에서 어떠한 마음과 신앙으로 이 시대를 살아가야 하는지에 관한 말씀을 들을 수 있습니다.

다음의 질문들을 통하여 본문을 미리 살펴보시지요.

- 7절 이하에서 어린 양의 아내, 곧 신부가 입은 세마포 옷은 무엇의 상징입니까?

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 　2) for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” 　3) And again they shouted: “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.” 　4) The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!” 　5) Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!” 　6) Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 　7) Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! With justice he judges and wages war. 　12) His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 　13) He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 　14) The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 　15) Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”* He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. / *Psalm 2:9 　16) On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords. 　17) And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 　18) so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.” 　19) Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. 　20) But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 　21) The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. 　7) Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready; 　8) to her it has been granted to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure"--for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. 　9) And the angel said to me, "Write this： Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are true words of God." 　10) Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your comrades who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." 　11) Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse! Its rider is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 　12) His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems; and he has a name inscribed that no one knows but himself. 　13) He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called The Word of God. 　14) And the armies of heaven, wearing fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. 　15) From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron; he will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 　16) On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, "King of kings and Lord of lords." 　17) Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly in midheaven, "Come, gather for the great supper of God, 　18) to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of the mighty, the flesh of horses and their riders--flesh of all, both free and slave, both small and great." 　19) Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against the rider on the horse and against his army. 　20) And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed in its presence the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 　21) And the rest were killed by the sword of the rider on the horse, the sword that came from his mouth; and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.
